also, I just gotta say, i feel like “your fave killed someone!” is a very, very weird stone to throw in this particular glass fandom house. a really high number of characters in GoT/asoiaf have killed someone. a really high number of characters have killed A LOT of someones… so why, i wonder, is it the traditionally feminine character who can’t use a sword or dragon fire killing the sadist who raped her/tortured her/imprisoned her in her own home, helped kill her mother and oldest brother, and killed her youngest brother the one that you are fixated on?!? just something you could consider. i mean, i know you won’t. but you could.
ALSO also, i realize this is just me being pedantic, but we are already where so WHY NOT!? “intentional murder” is redundant; all murders are intentional, it’s a requirement for something to actually be considered a murder. unintentional murders are actually categorized as either (voluntary or involuntary) manslaughter or negligent homicide.
I guess we’re just gonna ignore Catelyn, Cersei, and Arianne then as traditional feminine characters? okay cool.
and if you were such a devoted stan, you’d realize that I was talking about her book counterpart. the character on the show is one I don’t recognize at all as she’s made up of other female characters’s traits other than her own.
what I was talking about was the rather dismissed and swept under the rug this such as her plotting with Littlefinger to kill Sweetrobin and her constant negative thoughts about her sister. show canon is it’s own monster that irrelevant to what I’m talking about.
and besides, I know my fave is a killer. I know she’s killed to survive and I know she’s killed period. I know and I acknowledge that. my fave isn’t perfect at all. she’s flawed and filled with both “good” traits and “bad” traits. that some of her actions and decisions have led her to make morally grey choices and I love that. I acknowledge this and I understand it. I’m just curious if your fave’s stans acknowledge that she’s just as grey as the others.
but you’re right! I’m a terrible person who dislikes/hates/loathes a character purely because she’s feminine! and not because of any other thing such as her actions or choices or whatever makes up a character. you’re completely right.
besides it’s not like you have to like a character to understand why they are the way they are, right?

also, i know Sansa and Arya had a complicated and contentious relationship, i know Sansa did not treat her sister well; but that has nothing to do with the point of the post? honestly at this point, more often than not, it’s become more of a shaming and strawman argument that people throw at anyone who tries to say anything positive about Sansa or defend her to shut them up, kind of like how YOU are doing HERE! it’s transparent, it’s over used, and it’s boring.
also, stop holding Sansa responsible for the crimes of her adult abusers! it is a pretty disgusting sentiment and downright insidious form of victim blaming. and that is what Sansa is: a victim… what tf do you even expect her to do?!? she is wanted for MURDER by the crown, a crime should would be executed
for. she is completely isolated, no one knows who she is, and the only
person who does is the man who rescued her from Kings Landing and who
now controls her life and her every move. Sansa is a 13 year old girl being groomed by a grown man who is manipulating her into helping him kill another child for his own political gain. Not to mention the fact that the child he is trying to kill is one that was entrusted to his care, who has lost both his parents (one of which LF murdered), and is already disabled and ill. instead of judging her for that you could, ok idk, take a moment to think about how that is going to affect her life and her mental well being going forward… people talk ALL THE TIME about how Arya has essentially become a child soldier, how she is traumatized, how it has affected her mentally. you could at least TRY to extend a little bit of that compassion to Sansa.
additionally, there isn’t even any real proof that Sansa is fully aware LF’s plan (and it IS his plan) is to kill Sweetrobin. She often thinks about Sweetrobin’s future, how his wife will like his long hair, how he will be Lord Defender of the Vale, ect. sansa maybe in denial at WORST, but in all other cases the truth still breaks out through her narrative
while there that she wholeheartedly believes that Robin will be fine. add on the facts that Sansa is a MASTER at self deception and denial; even if she does know, its completely possible that she is compartmentalizing or dissociating which are common coping
mechanisms for abuse victims. and furthermore, there’s no real proof she even knows that sweet sleep is a poison. the only time we ever hear about sweet sleep being poisonous is in Arya’s chapters, Sansa doesn’t have this information… if you were such a devoted stan, maybe you’d realize that.
but honestly, regardless of Sansa’s mental state or her direct or indirect knowledge of LF’s plan, the only thing that truly matters here is that Sansa is 13 year old girl. she is a CHILD, she is alone in the world, she is terrified, she is traumatized, she has been subjected to endless emotional, psychological AND physical abuse. and now, she is being groomed and manipulated by a fully grown man who has complete control over her. IF Robert Arryn does die, it will be LF’s fault, he will be the one responsible, he will be the one culpable. he will be the murderer, not Sansa. i have no problem recognizing or accepting that she is morally grey, or that she will mostly likely become even more morally grey as the series progresses. one thing i won’t do though, is hold an abuse victim responsible for their own abuse or for the actions of their abusers.
STOP HOLDING 13 YEAR OLD TRAUMATIZED CHILD SANSA STARK RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF HER ADULT ABUSERS!!!
hate sansa all you want. think she sucks and that she’s The Worst and that she’s useless, stupid, and a terrible person ALL. YOU. WANT. but damn at least have a little compassion and human decency while you do it… we’re done here.
